F1 Racing Simulation

Info on new cars

End 1997 Ubisoft announced they had developed a fantastic new F1 race-game for the PC. According to Ubisoft the game should be very realistic and it should have very beautiful graphics. And the game needed to be something special, because Microprose had already made a great game with F1 Grand Prix2. To ensure the game would become a success Ubisoft got the help of real F1 technici from the F1 Renault-team.

I can say that Ubisoft hasn't said anything too much. F1 Racing Simulation really is a fantastic game. Off course I am no F1 driver and therefore I don't know how it is to drive at a circuit with a F1-car, but while playing F1 Racing Simulation you get an idea how it would be.

The graphics of the game are outstanding. You have to own a 3Dfx or Direct3D card, but when you do, you can enjoy really superb graphics, almost photo-realistic. Sometimes I was paying more attention to the surroundings than to my car, which sometimes resulted in a huge crash in which my car was smashed into lots of pieces.
All circuits of the world championship are worked out in every detail. Especially Monaco with all its buildings is beautiful. The weather circumstances are also very realistic. The rain really causes you to drive slower, because the tracks are extremely slippery when it rains.

It is very easy to start with the game. If you choose the easy-mode the F1-car is completely configured for you and the only thing you will have to do is drive. You can make the game as hard or easy as you want , for beginners there are things like steering and braking help. But for the more experienced driver there are professional-modes in which you can configure your car completely. Wing angles, tires, suspension, brakes, gear ratios, etc. You can change almost everything.

So only one conclusion can be drawn. Ubisoft has made an unbelievable realistic and outstanding F1-racing game for the PC. You won't be disappointed if you buy F1 Racing Simulation.
