Did you set your car option to use manual instead of automatic (under the settings when you are choosing you car, same place whee you can set ABS, Damage, etc)? I mapped the up/down shift to 2 buttons on my controller and they work fine. I am trying to find a way to get my RS Shifter to work in individual gear mode and have had no luck. I wrote EA to ask for a patch to support this.
