NfS PU + ASUS K7V + ASUS 6600

has anyone NFS PU running on this combination ? i tried everything (asus drivers, nvidia drivers, directx 6-7a,...). it always crashes at startup with a error in DPLAYERX.DLL.
my configuration:
k7v, amd700, 6600geforce, 128mb, win98se.
