NFS 5 problems

Does anyone else have the problem of NFS 5 locking up at the title screen (the screen after the Intro movie)? If so, and you fixed it, how? I have a PII 400 MMX, 256 megs of SDRAM, about 4 gigs HD space free, a S3 Savage4 32 meg video card, an Ensoniq sound card, and a DVD-ROM player. My system is well over the requirements so I have no clue as to what is going on.
