Big NFS5 probs....

I am getting wierd problems with my NFS5 game.... the error is You have DirectX 0 please install DirectX 7. then it gives me some wierd text underneath. Then a yes or a no button i press yes and it just exits i press no and it says unable to initiate 3d acceleration then it exits.... This is before it even gets into the game... can someone please help me out? i have win2k and a viper v770
