The game is NOT supported (read the requirements, says CLEARLY that NT and 2000 are NOT supported, and I tried without success) in Win 2000.
Try Windows 98.
I had problems even with W98! :)
Updated it once, went fine. Now it is 3.3 version, and whenever I run Internet games, it finds another patch, a small one, but when the patcher starts, it says it is not needed.
And than U cannot play! :))

Guess that is what they have been talking about beta testing.
EA is still working on the multiplayer servers.
HS and PU are a LOT different from eachother, and yet they have to share the same system.
Lets give them some time to sort things out.
