ATI Rage Pro 8 meg having problems w/ menu

I have a ATI Rage Pro 8 meg video card. Sound Blaster 16. 44x cd-rom. 128meg PC-100 ram. PII-400MMX. When I load NFS5 the intro plays nice, but when it get's to the menu the buttons are not showing... I can click on them, but i dont not see, or know what i am clicking on. I think this is a problem w/ my video card, possibly it can't handle the multiple layers.. Is there a fix, or anything out there for this problem?
